THE BEATING HEART OF FONDAZIONE SAN MICHELE ARCANGELO
‘For us, the religious sense represents the beating heart of our being and of our work. As our articles of association state: ‘The purpose of the Foundation is to promote the integral realisation of the person, accompanying and supporting him/her, through the rediscovery of the religious sense as a criterion for personal action, in its natural inclination towards self-fulfilment, the apex of which is freedom, understood as the full satisfaction of one’s desires.’
This commitment is and will increasingly be reflected in all our activities, for there is no greater gesture of charity we can make towards ourselves and towards others than that of taking our humanity seriously, and inviting others to do likewise.
This is the essential mission of the Saint Michael Archangel Foundation and the works that are part of it. Our immediate objective is to support people in their training for entry into the world of work, but our training is not limited to technical skills: it is an integral formation of the person.
If we did not reach into the deepest core of the individual, if we did not invite him to confront his most authentic desire, our work would remain incomplete. Even if we managed to find work for everyone, without this profound confrontation our commitment would ultimately be meaningless. In short, responding to people’s immediate needs is the way to challenge them to respond to their deepest need.’
